Parcel 27
567 Orange Center Road

The first building mentioned on this property was in a deed dated 1846. In 1975 an old summer kitchen at the rear was removed to add a two story addition. In 1934 a fire destroyed a barn on the property, and another barn and chicken coops were removed at a later date. There is presently a three car garage on the property.

A small portion of the house is pictured on an early 1900's postcards published by Edward Scobie. The card was titled "Orange, Connecticut" and is a view of the intersection of Porter Lane and Orange Center Road.

During the 1800's a knifemaker and a shoemaker, named Foote, lived there. Later a bookbindery shop was operated in an outbuilding. This was moved south in the early 1900s to a new location on Orange Center Road.
