Constitution
Of the Orange total abstinance [i.e., abstinence] Society
Believing that the use of intoxicating drinks is not only unnessary [i.e., unnecessary] but injurious to health and happiness believing it the cause of poverty crime and premature death and believing that nothing less than the concentrated efforts of the friends of Temperance can stay the progress of Intempereance [i.e., intemperance] and save the Church and peopple [i.e., people] from the sin of drunkenness
     Resolved that we form ourselves into an association and adopt the following Constitution
Art 1 This society shall be called the Orange total abstinance society
Art 2 We do solemnly Pledge ourselves that we will neither make sell
