BOYS' 4-H CLUB
The Boys' 4-H Club, sponsored by the American Legion, having a membership of twenty-five, is about the largest club of its kind in the State. The age limit of members is from 10 to 20 years, Everett B. Clark is the Senior Supervisor. The scope of their activities is varied, and their interest in various competitions is state-wide. Several of the boys have been awarded the State Prize in the different classes. In 1946 they won permanent possession of the Baldwin Plaque, having won it for three consecutive years. This trophy was given by Arthur L. Baldwin of Milford when he was State Commander of the American Legion. It is awarded, annually, to the best Legion sponsored 4-H Club in the State.
GIRLS' 4-H CLUBS
The Girls' 4-H Clubs are sponsored by the Orange Parent-Teacher Association. The girls are divided into smaller groups, with a teacher for each group. They receive instruction in sewing, cooking, canning, and general home-making efficiency.
Late in August, each year, the boys' and girls' 4-H Clubs hold an exhibition, showing their achievements during the year. These exhibitions cover so many departments that they are almost an agricultural fair.
PARENT-TEACHER ASSOCIATION
The Orange Parent-Teacher Association was established in 1943. It is composed of both fathers and mothers, who are vitally interested in the welfare of the public schools. At each meeting a prize is given to the Grade having the largest number of parents present. Besides sponsoring the 4-H Girls' Clubs, they assist the Public Health Association in serving hot cocoa to the scholars of the Orange Center School at lunch time.
