old E. Brakewood, president of the Club, presided at the meeting, and Mrs. Franklin Swift, program chairman, introduced Mrs. Cole. Mrs. Joseph Merrels was in charge of publicity for the meeting.
Charles Edwin Butt, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Butt of Amity Road, returned on Tuesday to the University of Connecticut, where he is a sophomore.
The Mothers' Club will hold its regular monthly meeting on Monday January 15, in the Social Room of the Church. All those interested in this group are urged to bring their husbands along for a Pot Luck Supper at 7:00 o'clock. Supper will be followed by the business meeting at which officrs for the coming year will be nominated. The Reverend Mr. Francis P. Randall will address the group. Mrs. C. L. Hartshorn, Jr., will be hostess for the evening.
The Red Cross sewing group holds its regular meetings on Wednesdays from 10:00 to 4:00 at the Town Hall. Coffee and tea are served, and each member brings her own lunch. The group is, at present, working on garments for the veterans at the Newington Hospital. Mrs. Edgar H. Dowson, Chairman of the Red Cross chapter, has announced that plans are under way for a group to work on surgical dressings, and volunteers will be heartily welcomed.
The Annual Meeting of the Ecclesiastical Society and the Church Society of the First Church of Christ in Woodbridge will be held on Friday, January 12, at 7:45 P.M., in the Church Social Rooms. From 6:30 to 7:00 supper will be served, under the direction of the Ladies Aid Society. Families in representation are asked to bring a casserole, a salad, or a dessert.
On Thursday, January 18, Mr. Gordon Haight will talk on George Eliot at the Woodbridge Library at 8:00 P.M. All interested are invited to attend.
Pvt. Raymond Perrotti, son of Mrs. Josephine Perrotti, had a five-day leave at home over the Christmas holidays. He is stationed at Camp Pickett.
Pvt. John Lorusso, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Lorusso, Pvt. Anthony De Vito, son of Mr. James De Vito, and Pvt. James Longo, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Longo, were home over the New Year holidays on five-day leaves from Camp Pickett.
Per Nelson, husband of Ida C. Tiselius, of Hazel Terrace, Woodbridge, died on January 1. Funeral services were held on January 3 at the parlors of Beecher & Bennett. Interment was in Beaverdale Memorial Park.

Bethany Girl Exhibits Poultry at Boston Show
Miss Joella Downs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley H. Downs, will exhibit her Farm 4-H Flock at the Boston Poultry Show, which will be held in the Mechanics' Building in Boston, January 17 through 21. Joella has won prizes at several fairs and won "Best of Show" with this same flock in the Grand Championship Trials at the New Haven County Fair in Orange last fall. We understand that Joella is the only junior exhibitor from this area, and we wish her the best of luck.

Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Delano, of Falls Road, announce the birth of a son on Monday, January 8. Mrs. Delano is the former June Sprague.
On Thursday, January 4, two teams from the Community School played the first basketball games of the season against two graduate teams from Troup Junior High School. The Community School girls' team beat the Alumnae, 22 to 16. Those playing for Bethany were: Barbara Koval, Helen Santoro, Audrey Alling, Annette Sharron, Nancy Hoppe, Phoebe Haines, Anitra Sarno, Shirley Harrison, Myra Corey, Phoebe Merky, and Cathryn Trebenko; on the Troup team: Joyce Winter, Joan Winter, Ruth MacDonald, Yolande Santoro, and several substitutes from the other team. On the Bethany boys' team were: Bobby Williams, Bruce Winter, Arnold Riley, Bobby Simpson, Howard Williams, Raymond Johnson, Jimmy Johnson, and John Lonergan. The players for Troup were: Ronald Williams, Russell Jackson, Thomas O'Rourke, Jerry Johnson, Tad Downs, John Downs, Jack Edmondson, Galen Sarno, Gary Fuller, and Peter Ould. The Troup team won with a score of 52 to 17. All four teams showed great promse, and parents are urged to come and enjoy the games.
The regular meeting of the Bethany Board of Education will be held at the Community School on Tuesday, January 16, at 8:00 P.M.
The annual parish meeting of Christ Church, Bethany, will be held on Sunday, January 14, at 4:00 P.M. Officers will be elected and other business transacted at the meeting, immediately following which a supper will be served by the Ladies Guild, under the direction of Mrs. Norman Peck and Mrs. Harry Johnson.
Donald Price, son of Mrs. Sanford B. Price and the late Mr. Price, formerly of Bethany, will return to active duty with the Army on January 15. Donald's younger brother, Bobby, has also been called for examination.
Linda and Barbara Wooster, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. George Wooster, of Hilldale Road, attended a New Year's birthday party for their cousin, Mae Babrowsky, at her home in Oxford. There were ten children presesnt. They enjoyed sliding, games, an entertainment program, and refreshments.
The Bethan Athletic Association, Inc., will hold a meeting and the annual election of officers on Monday, January 15, at 7:30 P.M., at the Dew Drop Inn. Refreshments will be served after the business session. All members are urged to attend.
Mr. and Mrs. David Calhoun spent the holidays with Mr. Calhoun's parents on Hatfield Hill Road.
Robert Calhoun, who has been acting as leader for a group of Gray-Y boys in New Haven, recently entertained 23 members of the group with a party at his home. The boys had a fine day in the country and a delightful supper.
A son, Gary Dennis, was born January 5 to Mr. and Mrs. Raymond W. Cable of Carmel Road. Mrs. Cable is the former Vivian Strom.

Refreshments were served by a committee consisting of Mrs. Grant Durley, Mrs. Ronald Stronk, Mrs. John Riley, and the 4th Grade Room mothers.
