Public Issue
Any nespaper devoted to the best interests of its community, as we firmly believe "The Amity Star" to be, is bound to encounter 'issues' and has an obligation to present them to the readers as completely and fairly as possible. The proposed advent of the gas pipeoline has already presented us with such an 'issue'.
As you know from last week's paper, the Woodbridge Fire Department is something less than enthusiastic about the dangers which according to some sources, are apparently inherent in the installation of such a pipeline. Now the Bethany Volunteer Firemen's Association announces that it is investigating the matter, meanwhile urging that property holders make no commitments without consulting officers of the department. Many citizens of both towns have expressed concern to the Editor by phone and mail.
Just before this issue of "The Amity Star" went to press, a representative of the interests sponsoring the pipeline indicated a desire to use our columns to give their side of the story. Secure in the belief that our fellow citizens will wish to hear all aspects of the proposal before making up their minds, we have assured him that such material will be given every consideration that space permits.

Communications
To the Editor:
Your article in the edition of this week concerning the proposed natural gas line is of great interest because application has been made to me to sign a contract granting permission to sign a contract granting permission to put pipes through our property.
Certainly it presents a real hazard. Laying the pipes is a matter which should receive careful consideration by those who have buildings near the proposed sites. With all good wishes for your success, I am,
Respectfully,

Dear Editor & Publisher...     Dec. 1950
Dear George: --
Enclosed please find check for our subscription to "The Amity Star" -- We shall file away back numbers in the Baltimore Public Library. -- -- -- From here, we have doubtful newsworthy items. If it were not so serious, we might have had photographs for you to illustrate our passage through N.J. en-route from N.Y., on the fateful Sat. of the "STORM" (yes, the same one which hit Bethany) -- -- --
Meanwhile, all best to your and our friends in Bethany.
Jo and Jack Turner
