TV Newsreel
Solving problems is what the Television researchers and engineers do the best. Now they've come up with the solution to a big one. Yes, sir ... just when it looked as though the manufacture of television sets was "doomed for the duration" because of materials shortages ... like magicians pulling rabbits out of hats they've come up with the answer. They've perfected a new kind of tube that uses so-called electrostatic-focusing. It doesn't require scarce cobalt or copper ... as do the electromagnetic tubes now in use. And practically all the 37 manufacturers of the cathode ray picture tubes are making plans to produce the new type in proportion to their needs. That almost makes it a sure thing that there'll be television enough to go round, no matter what happens in the world. Looks as though the fellow was right when he said, "Necessity is the Mother of Invention." It's certainly proving true in the TV business.
