Spooky Orange

In October 2025, Orange residents of all ages are encouraged to submit an original spooky story to our 1st library-wide writing contest. All entries will be published in the first edition of Spooky Orange, which will be made available on our website and in print at the Library.

Winners will be selected in three age categories – children, teen, and adults – and have their stories featured in Spooky CT, a brand-new statewide spooky story collection from libraries across Connecticut.

Submissions must be:

  • Set anywhere in Connecticut – past, present, or future
  • A minimum of two sentences and a maximum of ten pages
  • PG-13 or less (limited foul language and gore)
  • Original works: no AI-generated content (incl. ChatGPT or similar tools)

Submissions will be accepted from October 1-31.

The submission link for your spooky, wonderful stories will be available on this page starting October 1.

Winners will be notified in November.
