Woodbridge Notes
Roger Street, son of Mr. and Mrs. Newton H. Street, of Newton Road, who recently received an honorable discharge from The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina, for the purpose of enlisting in the armed forces, is now stationed at the U.S. Naval Training Station at Newport, Rhode Island. He has been given the temporary rating, effective during his "boot" training, of Petty Officer, 1st Class, and has been placed in command of a platoon of 60 other seamen recruits.
The Warner School P.T.A. is planning a card party to be held in the Town Hall on April 4. Mrs. Salvatore DeRosa is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Jean Trapani, of Blairstown, N.J., duaghter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin A. LaBrake, of Bradley Highlands, has been recalled to service as a Lieutenant in the Army. She has been serving at the Valley Forge Hospital in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, since early December.
Woodbridge Wedding
Miss Polly Ann Peck, duaghter of Mr. and Mrs. James Baldwin Peck, of Race Brook Road, and Robert Henry Schulz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Henry Schulz, of Dillon Road, were married on March 3 in the First Church of Christ. The ceremony was performed by the Reverend Francis P. Randall, pastor of the Church. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Susan A. Peck, as maid of honor, and the groom's brother, Pfc. Donald O. Schulz, USAF, was the best man. Ushers included James B. Peck, Jr., H. Allen Brooks, Martin Lynn, and Grant Nelson, all of Woodbridge. A reception was held at the Woodbridge Club.
Mrs. Schulz attended the Univesity of Connecticuit, and her husband went to Purdue and Bridgeport University. After March 12 they will be at home in Dillon Road.
Engagement Announced
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas O. Morton, of Oak Park, Illinois, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Donna A. Morton, to Pfc. Donald O. Schulz, USAF, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto H. Schulz, of Dillon Road. Pfc. Schulz is stationed at Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul, Illinois.
Joseph Henry Cullen
Joseph Henry Cullen, husband of the late Alice Reardon, died in Woodbridge on February 25. He is survived by a son, Joseph, Jr.; a daughter, Mrs. Louis F. Pike, at whose Ansonia Road home he died; and two grandchildren. The funeral was held on February 28, with a Solemn Requiem High Mass at St. Aedan's Church. Burial was in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
Vito (Frank) Espari
Vito (Frank) Espari, husband of Anna Cozzi Espari, of 91 Merritt Avenue, died on February 27. A solemn requiem high mass was celebrated by the Reverend Raymond O'Callaghan at the Church of the Assumption on March 2, with burial in St. Lawrence Cemetary. Mr. Espari is survived by his wife and four daughters, Mrs. Theresa Paduana, Mrs. Rose Booth, and the Misses Fannie and Christina Espari; five sons, James, Alfonse, Julius, Louis, and Michael; a brother, Ralph; and several grandchildren.
The third and concluding concert in the Young People's Series will be given in Woolsey Hall in New Haven on Saturday at 2:30.
It is expected that many young people from Bethany, Orange, and Woodbridge will attend the concert.
At the regular meeting of the Men's Club on Monday evening, Russell E. Chatfield of New Haven gave a talk and demonstration on "The Health Value Of Weight Lifting."
