Grand Lists Up in Two Towns, Down in Bethany
Reports of assessors filed with the State Tax Department show that in most of the towns in this area the 1950 Grand Lists increased markedly over those of 1949. In Orange the total went from $8,700,000 to $10,019,945, a rise of 13.1 per cent. The Woodbridge list climbed from $7,800,000 to over $9,800,000, an increase of 20.2 per cent. Bethany, the only town in this vicinity to report a decrease, went from $4,004,325 to $3,998,506, a drop of .14 per cent.
Only one of these towns has, as yet, set a tax rate on the 1950 Grand List: Orange last week voted a levy of 21 mills.
